New Guidelines to be followed with regard to importing the Islamic religious books and Al Quran into the country.

As per the instructions of the Ministry of Buddhasasana , Religious and Cultural Affairs, the procedure to be followed by any institution or individual with regard to the importation of Islamic religious books and Holy Qur’an into the country is as follows .

A soft copy as per the format given in Annexure I and II should be downloaded by the relevant institution / person from the Departmental website www.muslimaffairs.gov.lk 2020 and should be submitted after completion.

If the Copies of the Qur’an are to be imported ( Mus’haf ) then Appendix I and the translations ( Tharjumathul Qur’an ) of the Qur’an and other Muslim religious books should be used in Annexure II.

Request Letter of the Institution ( Letter should be submitted by letter Head ) and the Personal request.

Before importing stocks of Islamic books , two ( 02 ) samples should be imported in the name of the Director , Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs and the relevant customs duty levied for the release by the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs should be paid and released by the relevant importer.

After released , the books should be submitted to the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs.

Performa Invoice of the Books to be imported should be submitted to the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs.

Recommendations by the Expert Committee appointed by the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs Books will be submitted to the Ministry of Buddhasasana , Religious and Cultural Affairs for their consideration.

The Ministry of Buddhasasana . Religious and Cultural Affairs will send their recommendation and sample books to the Ministry of Defence for approval.

Only after the approval of the Ministry of Defence , necessary arrangements should be made for import.
