The 46th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council begins in Geneva, Switzerland today (22). The session will be held online until 23 March.
This year’s session will be focusing on several issues, including the Situation of human rights in Nicaragua, the Impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on human rights around the world, violations of international law in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, Question of human rights in Cyprus, Debt relief, debt crisis prevention and human rights, the water crisis and the violations of human rights in Sri Lanka.
The universal periodic review of a number of nations will also be taken up for consideration during the session.
The report of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights on alleged human rights violations in Sri Lanka will be taken up at the session on 24 February.
