158 new COVID-19 cases detected in Sri Lanka

Another 158 COVID-19 cases have been detected today in the country, raising the number of confirmed infections to 89,655.

All new cases have been identified as contacts of the Minuwangoda-Peliyagoda COVID-19 cluster.

Accordingly, the Minuwangoda-Peliyagoda COVID-19 cluster has increased to 85,099.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said 2,645 persons are currently receiving treatment for coronavirus at several facilities across the country.

Earlier today, 239 persons who recovered from COVID-19 were discharged from hospitals, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 86,466.

The Epidemiology Unit said 36 persons were discharged from the Kopai treatment Centre, 20 from the Karandeniya treatment Centre and 17 each from the Kahawatte treatment Centre and the Warakapola Base hospital during the past 24 hours.

338 suspected COVID-19 cases are also under medical observation at present.
