The Socialist Youth Union has lodged a complaint with the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka over a recent statement by the Director General of the Sri Lanka Standards Institute.
National Organiser Eranga Gunasekera speaking to media said the right to safe food items has been deprived by the present administration.
He said the Director General’s statement in an interview that many food items contain harmful substances, is concerning, especially for the country’s future generation.
He claimed her comments cannot be accepted and therefore the Socialist Youth Union decided to lodge a complaint with the Human Rights Commission.(NR)
