Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage today responded to various allegations raised against the Colombo Port City Economic Commission Bill.
Refuting the various allegations, he said the Colombo Port City Economic Commission Bill was legal.
The Minister said the Colombo Port City is a turning port for Sri Lanka which will elevate the country to a level on par with Singapore.
Responding to allegations raised by SLPP MP Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, the Minister said the former had raised the allegations without knowledge on the subject.
Commenting on the MP’s claims that the President had spoken to him in a demeaning manner, Minister Aluthgamage said the President had only made a general telephone call to the MP to inquire on his issues.
Earlier today, MP Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe told media that the President had spoken to him in a foul language, which is not suitable for a Head of State, during a telephone conversation this morning.
Rajapakshe had further said he had no choice but to respond to the President in a similar language.
MP Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe is among several who had filed petitions at the Supreme Court challenging the Colombo Port City Economic Commission Bill. (NewsWire)
