22,000 police officers monitoring travel restrictions

Travel restrictions will be implemented in the country from 11 pm yesterday (21).

Legal action will be taken against violators during the period of travel restriction.

About 22,000 police are on duty to monitor the situation.

Police have announced that there will be no permits to leave homes using the National Identity Card final digit procedure already announced during this period or for other purposes.

However, police media spokesman and Deputy Superintendent of Police Ajith Rohana told a media briefing at the Government Information Department yesterday (21) that the travel restriction was not a barrier to carry out essential needs.

Permission is granted to open pharmacies in all areas during the period in which the travel restriction is in force. Similarly if someone wants to get essential medicines they can go to the nearest pharmacy and get it.

Featuring essential services. Police Media Spokesman and Deputy Superintendent of Police Ajith Rohana said that permission has been granted for the distribution of mobile vehicles, including bakery products, food items, vegetables and fruits.
