Harsha alleges CBSL sold more than half of SL’s gold reserves

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Harsha De Silva yesterday (07.01.2021) alleged that the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) sold off a significant portion of the country’s gold reserves.

“CBSL sold more than half of Sri Lanka’s remaining gold reserves. From USD 382m we are now down to just USD 175.4m,” the MP said on twitter.

De Silva further questioned the CBSL on whether the 10 Bn Chinese Yuan, which would amount to USD 1.5bn, was available for debt repayment
